CENTCOM Launches Multinational Falcon Strike Task Force for Attack Drones

In a significant strategic evolution for Middle Eastern security architectures, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has officially launched its first multinational and multi-domain attack drone task force, designated as Falcon Strike. Announced on Thursday, this groundbreaking initiative marks the integration of unmanned systems operating from the air, surface, and subsurface domains, managed collaboratively by US military personnel and unidentified regional partners.

The Strategic Origin and Evolution of Task Force Falcon Strike

The formation of Task Force Falcon Strike follows months of intense regional conflict, which has seen continuous exchanges of fire involving Iran, its allied militias, the United States, Israel, and various Arab Gulf states. During these engagements, asymmetric warfare heavily relied on one-way attack drones. Prominent examples include Iran’s Shahed family of loitering munitions and the American counterpart, the Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System (LUCAS).

The trajectory toward Falcon Strike began in December 2025, when CENTCOM established Scorpion Strike, its inaugural one-way attack squadron in the Middle East. Building upon the operational success and tactical lessons learned from Scorpion Strike, CENTCOM expanded the concept by formally inviting regional allies to scale capabilities into a unified deterrent.

Cutting-Edge Unmanned Systems Deployed in Combat

The operational framework of Falcon Strike leverages several advanced unmanned platforms that have seen critical combat deployment under CENTCOM's area of responsibility:

  • LUCAS: A low-cost, reverse-engineered variant inspired by Iran’s widely used Shahed-136 loitering munition.
  • GARC: A compact 16-foot unmanned surface vessel (USV) designed for littoral surveillance and strike support.
  • Corsair USVs: Advanced unmanned surface vessels that have previously been utilized in high-profile strike operations against strategic installations, such as Iran's port of Bandar Abbas.

Command Structure and Future Regional Deterrence

Led by personnel from US Special Operations Command Central alongside strategic regional partners, Task Force Falcon Strike aims to create a networked umbrella of unmanned capabilities. CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper emphasized that integrating these asymmetric assets in a collaborative coalition environment rapidly unlocks new operational possibilities. By unifying aerial and maritime drone swarms, the task force intends to establish a formidable multi-domain deterrent capable of neutralizing emerging threats across the Middle East.
