The Strigo portfolio encompasses a wide array of critical military hardware, including radio-frequency sensors, missile datalinks, and specialized missile seeker technologies. All of these components are built upon a common, shared baseline architecture. This modular approach allows Strigo hardware to be easily reconfigured to support a multitude of operational requirements, ranging from traditional air defense and complex missile defense to precision air-to-surface strike missions.

According to Lockheed Martin, this architectural flexibility not only enhances tactical responsiveness on the modern battlefield but also significantly reduces life cycle costs for military customers, though specific financial figures regarding cost reductions were not disclosed. The company has poured a substantial $250 million internal investment into the Strigo Product Center to date, demonstrating a corporate commitment to proactively building out the U.S. Department of Defense's munitions industrial base—often referred to as the Arsenal of Freedom.

Established less than two years ago, the Strigo Product Center functions essentially as a specialized storefront for "ready-now and near-ready" military hardware. By emphasizing early research and streamlined prototyping, the facility has successfully transitioned multiple concepts from initial design sketches through rigorous testing in a matter of months rather than years.

The technological foundations established within the Strigo family are already making a tangible impact on active military programs. Most notably, technologies developed through Strigo played a crucial role in creating the Increment 2 seeker package for the U.S. Army’s Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), which is currently slated to replace the aging Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).

The Increment 2 package integrates an advanced sensor directly into the missile's nose, empowering the weapon to locate and actively track targets during the final phase of its flight trajectory. Lockheed Martin successfully flight-tested the Increment 2 package in March, achieving a flight distance of 350 kilometers (more than 217 miles) to harvest vital performance telemetry, marking a major milestone for long-range precision artillery.

Part of a Broader Industrial Strategy

The introduction of Strigo follows a series of strategic moves by Lockheed Martin throughout the year aimed at demonstrating faster and more cost-effective weapons manufacturing. Earlier in the year, the company opened a Rapid Fielding Center to consolidate prototyping and early production runs under one roof. Additionally, the company introduced the PAC-3 ACE, a Patriot interceptor variant engineered to cost less than half as much as the standard PAC-3 MSE.
