Vantor Appoints New U.S. Government Business Head to Expand Defense Capabilities

Earth intelligence provider Vantor has officially announced the appointment of Will Cocos as the executive vice president and general manager of its U.S. government business division. In this strategic leadership role, Cocos will oversee the company's critical operations supporting U.S. defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies, driving the integration of cutting-edge technology into military frameworks.

Strategic Leadership Transition and Defense Focus

Cocos steps into the position following the departure of Susanne Hake, who successfully managed Vantor's U.S. government operations since 2023. Prior to taking on this new assignment, Cocos served as Vantor’s chief transformation officer, where he was instrumental in shaping corporate strategy and spearheading international expansion initiatives. Bringing a wealth of operational experience as a former U.S. Navy SEAL and combat veteran of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, Cocos emphasizes a mission-first approach tailored to the needs of modern warfighters and analysts.

Expanding Beyond Traditional Satellite Imagery

The leadership change coincides with a pivotal strategic pivot for Vantor, formerly known as Maxar Intelligence. While the company has long established its reputation as a primary supplier of high-resolution satellite imagery to the U.S. defense and intelligence communities, Cocos will lead efforts to diversify its portfolio. Vantor is actively scaling up its offerings to include advanced software, comprehensive data analytics, and intelligence capabilities designed to enhance situational awareness on the battlefield.

Advanced Satellite Constellations and Military Partnerships

Vantor remains deeply embedded in the defense technology ecosystem through major federal programs and infrastructure. Operating a robust fleet of high-resolution electro-optical imaging satellites—including the modern WorldView Legion spacecraft—the Westminster, Colorado-based firm plans to further expand its orbital assets. Future constellation enhancements include two high-resolution Vantage satellites and up to 24 smaller Pulse satellites aimed at drastically increasing revisit rates for tactical users. Furthermore, Vantor powers essential defense platforms such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s G-EGD Pro platform, supplies 3D terrain data for the U.S. Army’s One World Terrain initiative, and supports automated analysis through the NGA’s Luno program.
