During the company's second-quarter earnings call, executives revealed that the new target for the maiden commercial flight of the first Spaceship vehicle is now set for February 2027. CEO Michael Colglazier clarified that the schedule revision was not triggered by a single critical failure. Instead, the delay stems from an accumulation of numerous minor installation tasks and micro-adjustments required during the initial vehicle build phase.

Engineers encountered situations where physical components varied by fractions of an inch, necessitating thorough engineering reviews to ensure compliance with strict design tolerances. Market demand for suborbital space tourism remains robust. The company successfully closed a recent tranche of ticket sales priced at $750,000 each, generating over $50 million in total bookings due to high interest and an oversubscribed customer base.
